You didn't really see that coming, I mean, seriously who the hell would?

Someone of that childish personality, dense to the point of extreme, silly, idiotic, stupid, cute, lovable, amazing, adorable, sweet, loyal....

Damn.

When have you fallen so low?

It's been a pain for months, it shot you so suddenly, leaving you in denial for so long. You didn't want to believe, him? Seriously, why him?!

That day, you woke up feeling very drowsy, even worst than usual. The moment you walked out the girls' bedroom, you heard your friends calling you over all the way from the railings.

"Morning!" Usopp waved at you as you gently rubbed your eyes and waved back with as much energy as you can, which is not a lot. Through your slightly blurry vision, you could spot Luffy next to him, sitting on the railing and rocking back and forth. The both of them seemed to holding fish rods, probably doing some morning fishing. You walked over to them, still tired and exhausted, to see what they were fishing for.

"Good morning!" Luffy greeted as you made your way to him, giving you bright smile. You returned the gesture,

"Morning, Lulu and Usopp."

The captain chuckled at the nickname you had for him before turning his attention back to his fishing pole while Usopp let out a sigh, "Why that name?"

You giggled in response, "Why not?

Anyway, what are you guys catching?"

Your long-nose friend just shrugged, not entirely sure what they were trying to catch either. "I guess anything will do."

"Let's try catching a sea monster, Usopp!" Luffy grinned at his own suggestion before getting a little excited. Yet the reply was a big smack to his head.

"DON'T BE INSANE!"

You laughed at the scene, walking over to the railing to peek down at the sea. Sparkling brightly and the clear ultramarine colours just hit you in someway, as you feel a sense of safety being near the mother sea. Unconsciously, your eyelids grew heavier as a wave of fatigue  washed over your mind. Your legs started to wobble and turned weak, you slowly leaned over the railing as you were still struggling to register what was going on. When your feet finally left the ground and you realised the top half of your body was toppling over, you froze.

"Ah-"

Your two crew members stared at you as if time slowed down, the way your body was slipping down in slow-motion. They stared for what felt like eternity before their mouth became wide agape. You made one last eye contact with them and finally fell over.

"(F/N)!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Their screeches traveled through the whole ship as the rest of the crew reacted to the sound and started to gather around, concerned about the noises. Your weak body dropped into the water with a loud splash. Usopp grew panicky at the sight and shrieked, but the captain reacted completely differently. Without a second thought, he jumped after you.

"LUFFY, WAIT-" His friend's voice was cut off the moment he plopped right into the water to see you slowly sinking into the sea. Growing more alarmed, he started to spatter through the sea but to no avail as he felt his own energy slipping away. With countless amount of effort, he barely grabbed your hand and pulled you in. However, his own conscious were washed away by then and he felt the darkness engulfed him.

Your eyes shot open in an instant and you quickly raised up like a man breaking out of the coffin, giving the poor doctor who was positioned beside you a big scare.

"AHHHH!!!" He screamed before rolling backwards and bumping into Zoro's leg. The crew entered your view one by one as you steadily took in deep breathes to calm yourself down. You glanced down and found your clothes thoroughly soaked with salt water that was starting to evaporate, leaving an uncomfortable sticky feeling on your skin.

"W-what...what happened? I-I fell asleep." You rubbed your head in confusion as you saw Usopp's facial expression of 'are you kidding me?'

"You fell asleep? More like you fell into the sea!!" He screamed, "HOW TIRED CAN YOU BE!?"

Nami hurriedly followed up, "We heard Luffy and Usopp screaming your name and walked out on you falling into the sea! You gave us quite a scare there." She took a deep breath.

"What was worse is that that stupid rubber head jumped after you, despite knowing he can't even float in the water." Sanji shook his head.

You blinked at his statement and felt your heartbeat thumping louder and faster. And that was the first time the flames ignited. You were confused and lost about the sudden reaction you received. Your captain loves his friends and obviously doing these kind of things were normal, so why on earth did you feel so...

"I'm so sorry..." You cut yourself off and apologized. "Where is he?"

"He went out to the sea with Zoro and Robin, they spotted another island far off ahead. You were so tired that you fell asleep for another hour or so, we were so afraid that you're going to die, you know we can't explain that to our captain." Sanji reasoned. "Either way, he said to pass you a message when you wake up."

You could feel your cheeks flared up.

"He said he's so glad you're okay."

"And so right, here it is! I got the book from Robin." The playful boy jumped around, holding a red book in his hand and swinging it up and down.

You stared at him with disbelief, your ear drums might have broke too, this...knucklehead, reading a book!? Luckily, only you and Robin knew about this, if not, the whole crew might be on chaos right now. Still, you can't imagine how Robin must have felt to have Luffy going up to her personally and asking for a book. The sea sure is a mysterious place...

"So...why did you get that book?" You squinted your eyes to get a clearer glance at the book title, "how...to show that you love someone?"

He beamed happily and settled himself in front you, sitting cross-legged butterfly style. You were utterly lost at the fact that Robin owned this book, furthermore, Luffy wanting this book? What is happening to the world?

"I don't know, I want to know more that's all." He explained before flipping open the first page. You waited patiently for him to skim through the pages.

"Handshakes..." He suddenly mumbled, "Handshakes is a form of respect." He glanced up and reached out his hand to you as you stare with bewilderment. He waited and so did you, until it finally came to you. Your mouth formed an 'O' shape before reaching your hand out too, shaking his. From the contact, you felt yourself getting warm again. '...How nice.' To your dismay, he let go and so did you. Nodding his head, he seemed to have acknowledged the gesture. Continuing, he went on to read the next page. Seeing nothing really caught his interest, he kept skipping and skipping.

All of the sudden, he stopped again and crawled over to you. You assumed it was probably another 'experiment' and sat quietly, letting him have his ways. He sat beside you before putting his arm around your shoulder, you flinched a little from the touch and looked at him to only see a cute smile on his face.

"Do you feel loved when I put my arms around you?" He said densely, but you on the other hand, took it quite differently. Your face felt like it was set on fire as you quickly cupped your mouth, feeling the heat rushing to your head and driving you insane. How could he said that easily!? Does he not get embarrassed? Understanding his intentions, you rubbed your nose a few times before turning back to him with a pout. Through EXTREME embarrassment, you answered.

"Yes. I feel loved."

He chuckled happily at your response. Grabbing the book, he flipped again and glanced through the next page.

And this was how the two of you spent the afternoon. He also 'performed' a tons of other acts on you, secretly driving you to madness. Wrapping his arm around yours, intertwining both of your fingers together, leaning his head against your shoulder or your chest (without realising what he was doing). Similarly, he would ask you to do the same things to him, and every time you do so, he would say, "I feel loved!" You were sure by the time the two of you were done, you might need to go for a medical checkup with Chopper.  

"Ah! Hugs. I haven't hug someone in such a long time!" Luffy exclaimed when he caught the page, beaming happily.

"You've hugged? When?" You asked in genuine curiousity.

"Remember the Pirate Empress who helped us? I gave her a really, really big hug during my time with her! She seriously helped me, without her, I'm sure I couldn't have helped my brother at that time."  

He laughed loudly at the nostalgic memories, but you didn't want to reminisce with him at all. Just the image of him pictured beside a gorgeous, tall, beautiful, wondrous and perfect lady brought an extremely sour feeling in your throat. Your tears seemed to also want to find its way to your eyes. With great struggle, you pinned down your feelings and swallowed them back, praying that they won't go loose. Giving him one last smile, you excused yourself with one of the worst reasoning you've ever thought off the top of your head and left without looking back at him. Charging straight for the bedroom, you didn't leave until the cook finally called for dinner time.

During dinner, rather than your usual seat beside your captain, you sat all the way across instead. The reason to why you were trying to avoid him seemed unclear to you. You felt like your sudden disappearance just now was overly rude and you were embarrassed by yourself for making such a big deal. He was just trying to share his stories with you, considering his denseness, he furthermore meant no harm in that way. So you walking off from him like that, wasn't that just rude? That brief moment of memories still instilled a heavy weight on your heart, damn, you wished you didn't do that.

Wanting to fend off that emotion, you sensed that the only way around it was the avoid it until you forget it. Yet when you were in your seat, you swore you could perceived a pair of eyes on you. Without looking up, you could clearly tell who it was but decided to not say a thing, praying that he will divert his attention soon. The moment you heard the plates clanking sound with the dining table, you fely more relieved. Maybe he will be distracted by the food. Glancing up a little to see your dinner, you quietly dig in despite surrounded by cheers and laughter. Somehow, you just didn't want to join in and only wanted to eat your food. You were some people already noticed your unnatural act, but you couldn't be bothered by it.

After enjoying the delicious delicacies, you stood up and walked to the cook. He grew jelly at your approach and his voice immediately sweetened unlike his usual tone.

"(F/N)-chwan~ How's the food today?"

Just like always, you smiled. "It was great."

Instead of getting a string of 'mellorine', he stopped and nodded. "Alright then."

You were a little surprised, but you suspected he might have knew how you were feeling. Just this little act made you grateful towards him. Walking off and ignoring the oh-so-obvious eyes trailing you down, you went up for a shower. Slipping the shirt off your exhausted body, you dropped it on the floor gently before touching the surface of the water to make sure it wasn't burning or freezing. Soon the temperature felt right and you stepped into it, dipping yourself into the fresh water. As you leaned back on the bathtub, the water seemed to wash down your troubles and doubts, slowly letting you rethink the incident with a more open-mind.

'....I should apologize.'

Walking down to the ship with soaking wet hair and an orange fluffy towel around your neck, you took a few deep breathes. You spotted the captain and Chopper rolling around in the grass of the lower deck, getting themselves dirty. The both of them paused for a bit before letting out a pure laughter. His voice seemed to shoot you like an arrow, causing your heart to suddenly miss a beat again. Your breathing started to mess up again and you slowly panicked, looking away to compose yourself.

You peeked at him again to only see him raising his head up, catching your gaze too. The two of you made eye contact as anticipation grew within you to see how he would act towards you after you neglected him for half a day. He blinked a few times before a cute pout formed on his lips. Without any more words, he titled his head down and tugged on his straw hat, trying to hide his face. All this action just resembles a kid who got into a fight and is too proud to admit to his mistakes.

Arrows started to penetrate your heart at a rapid rate and you quickly bury your face in your hand, cheeks heating up like coals on fire. How much more precious is he going to get at this rate?

Holding in your ego, you made your way down to the two male. When Chopper realised Luffy's laughter have ceased, he did the same too. Looking up, he noticed Luffy staring in front with a tense expression. Directing his sight, he sees you coming into the picture, oddly possessing a quite redden face. A few seconds of processing, he understood that he was not supposed to be staying here and slowly backed away up the deck. Robin managed to catch him before he tripped over the staircase since he wasn't paying attention.

Luffy bit his lips and looked away at your approaching figure, the sulky face never leaving for even a second. Your mind chanted to calm down and you composed yourself before stopping in front of him fully. All of the sudden, it just goes completely blank and you couldn't remember what you wanted to say to him.

"W-what do you want?" He purposely made himself sounded pissed, which wasn't exactly convincing. Your thoughts snapped back at the sound of his voice.

"I'm sorry about this afternoon." You started, "I know it was a little unreasonable of me to walk off like that."

He peeked a bit and huffed, giving you the cue to go on. "I shouldn't have ignored you either, I'm sorry." You accompanied your words with a smile.

"Hmp." He puffed out his cheeks and gazed up, still continuing his act of anger. You knew he wasn't fumed anymore, maybe still a little frustrated. But nothing a little push can't do. You knelt down in front of him and stretched out both your arm, slightly puffing out your chest. You didn't say anything other than beaming and waiting for him to react. He examined you and clenched his fist tightly, seemingly holding himself back after understanding your intention. You tried to stifle a giggle, seeing how stubborn he was getting. He even shut his eyes strongly, resisting his every nerve until his face grew red as a tomato. You smirked at the sight and decided to give him another 'poke'.

"Lulu~" You sang.

The only view you had of the next second was him just letting free and throwing himself at you like a child. Tackling you onto the floor, he held his grip tightly around your neck while you proceeded to laugh your ass off for another minute of two. He snuggled against your neck, acting as if a dog is welcome his master home, which only caused your ticklish sensation to go wild and laughing even harder. You attempted to pry him off but all effort were futile as he was clearly a lot of times stronger than you. It felt like eternity to have him so close to you and acting like this. His scent traveled through your nose, a soft and pure smell. A fluffy emotion grew inside of you as you felt so lucky to be part of this crew to get such small and worthless privileges like these.  

The dirt that he rolled on got onto your clean and washed body as you sighed, finally giving up on pushing him away and just resigned to your fate. You tighten your hug around his thin frame and gave him a small squeeze, and he immediately returned it too.

"Do you feel loved now?" You asked snickered at the inside joke while he chuckled.

"Yes. I feel loved!"

"Now that we've hugged, what's the next step, captain?" You saluted.

"Hm...If my memory serves me correctly, I believe we're suppose to...kiss." He rested his chin on his palm and titled his head. How does one do that? A kiss usually means on the lips right?

"...What?" You were rooted to the ground.

"Let's try that!" He doesn't spare a second before tackling you down again, aiming for you. You held his face back with as much strength as you could. With a completely burned face, it's the first time you've ever experienced embarrassment that even words cannot comprehend.

"W-w-w-wait! Wait. Wait. F-f-family members don't do that. Lulu! Wait!" You tried to reason yourself and him, despite the explanation not being the truth of how you really feel about him.

"But this is-"

"WAIT! Family members don't do it on the lips! They just..." Your face could never get any worst than this. "Just do it on the cheeks or forehead..."

You knew that explanation will only attract those innocent small kisses to you, not just you but everyone else on this crew, and you didn't mind it. (No matter how much you want to deny it). His face lights up happily as you just sat there, already giving up with fighting with him. As you sighed and closed your eyes, you knew the ghost of your smile will forever linger when those gullible lips contacted your soft and delicate cheek.
